1  General Information / KNOWLEGE BASE ARTICLES AND HOWTOs / MAC OS X VMWARE FUSION guest Windows XP installation, CISCO VPN does not work on: May 02, 2008, 06:57:04 PM
This has taken me a while to solve, so I have decided to share the solution to the problem.
I have created a guest installation of the Windows XP Pro on the Intel based Mac OS 10.5 Leopard. I have used the latest version of the VMWARE FUSION to create the Windows VM in OS X.
Everything would work just fine in the XP Pro, except the Cisco VPN Client (ver 4.7). The client would connect and establish the tunnel, but I was not able to ping anything on the remote network.
The solution was to setup the networking settings of the Virtual Machine to use the "bridged mode". I have made the change and restarted the Windows XP VM. Apparently, the bridged mode gives the Windows XP a direct access to the networking interface. Sure enough, that was it. The VPN client was now able to send and receive the info from the remote network.

Came up with the solution Cheesy

In order to do what I wanted, I have decided to add an additional made up "unofficial" BBC tag called purl and then added it to the Subs.php located in the Sources directory.

Find
Code:
                        array(
'tag' => 'white',
'before' => '<span style="color: white;">',
'after' => '</span>',
),
DO NOT CHANGE IT, Just add the code below. It creates a new purl tag which generates a simple javascript popup window.

Code:
                        array(
'tag' => 'purl',  // Define unofficial [purl][/purl] BBC tag
'type' => 'unparsed_content',
'content' => '<a href="$1" onclick="return reqWin(\'$1\', 1044, 839, true);">$1</a>',
// Above is a simple javascript popup code. The numbers 1044 and 839 are arbitrary and they can be set to anything you like
'validate' => create_function('&$tag, &$data, $disabled', '$data = strtr($data, array(\'<br />\' => \'\'));'),
),

array(
'tag' => 'purl', // Define unofficial [purl][/purl] BBC tag
'type' => 'unparsed_equals',
'before' => '<a href="$1" onclick="return reqWin(\'$1\', 1044, 839, true);">',
// Above is a simple javascript popup code. The numbers 1044 and 839 are arbitrary and they can be set to anything you like
'after' => '</a>',
'disallow_children' => array('email', 'ftp', 'url', 'iurl'),
'disabled_after' => ' ($1)',
),

So now you have a new purl tag you can type in order to get the simple URL popup window.

Usage:

Code:
[purl]your url[/purl]

or to get a image thumbnail popup:
Code:
[purl=your img url][img width=200 height=159]your img url[/img][/purl]

The live result is shown below:

<- Got a popup Cheesy.

The above is a simple example for the new "unofficial" [prul] BBC tag

Enjoy your popup window!

And Now
This is a workaround by MothMan.
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=134889.15
It is not exactly the solution, but it is getting closer.  MothMan's trick forces the browser to open a link in new window:

Still, the classic popup window would work better, as I do not want my readers to get distracted from the main article...
4  General Information / KNOWLEGE BASE ARTICLES AND HOWTOs / Create a javascript popup window from link or thumbnail in SMF Forum on: February 08, 2007, 05:17:35 PM
Greetings,
This is a simple how to that adds some extra functionality to the SMF Forum.
My original question about this subject is right here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=149179.msg961908#msg961908

I would like to have the IMG tag create a thumbnail for me in the post with a popup window to an actual, full size picture.
<-Want a popup Huh

The Attach option below works perfect and it does exactly what I want, but now I would like to move the "Attach" functionality to the IMG tag..
